Depending upon where you live, a severe rain storm can represent a typical hot summer day in the prairies, or an entertaining — and unexpected — fireworks display in the mountains. It was the latter that allowed me to test out the ‘movie’ function on my recently purchased iPhone 3GS.

I grew up in Southern Ontario where thunder and lightning storms were at least weekly occurrences during the long, muggy days of summer. In this part of the world however — British Columbia’s Lower Mainland — thunder and lightning is rare indeed. So, a sudden ‘dust-up’ of violent weather, accompanied by everything Mother Nature could muster, came as a dramatic and fun surprise.

This little video is edited from a twenty-two minute electrical storm that passed through Indian Arm and over Mount Seymour, exiting with one emphatic exclamation mark mere meters behind my head, as you’ll see at the end.
