May 30th, Part Three
Life’s short. Do what you want.
Here’s my new mantra: I use my money to buy my time, and I use both to fund my life. Came to me while I was driving backwards thru sand!
Radio. Hmmm… Maybe they’ll do the same thing in Canada they’ve done here - shut down AM radio altogether.
I swear, you drive between cities down here and you’ll find one or two AM stations and a dozen or more FM stations. A guy in Santa Fe told me that in New Mexico alone they’ve lost thirty AM stations in the past five years. Gone - off air - no more. Can’t say if that’s a Clear Channel thing, a satellite radio thing, or what. But it’s truly weird.
The Mexican stations come in loud and clear, even here in southern Utah. Lots of religious stations here too, obviously. A nasty little station group called AFR — American Family Radio — buys in (buys off, more likely!) those small, low wattage AM stations that can’t make a go of it and pulls a ‘Clear Channel’… ‘message-based’ radio for families. Right-wing, conservative radio with nice friendly voices… and lots of country music. No Dixie Chicks though! I wonder why?!
But here’s the kicker… in almost every instance they move off AM and make them FM.
Never heard anything about this before. Maybe a story there.
